Research and sources
We start with the question a reader needs answered. For ingredient and health-adjacent claims, we prefer primary research, systematic reviews, regulators and recognized clinical organizations. Manufacturer and retailer pages can establish a current ingredient list, directions, size or availability; they do not independently prove that a product works.
Sources should sit near the claim they support. Some older guides do not yet meet that standard and are being reviewed. An uncited statement should not be read as medical advice or proof of effectiveness.
How comparisons are decided
We compare products that solve the same reader problem. We record the current formula information available to us, intended use, meaningful active ingredients, likely skin-type fit, practical limitations and value. The verdict must explain who should choose each option; a single winner is not forced when the better choice depends on skin type or tolerance.
Research-based reviews and first-hand testing
A research-based review uses published evidence, current product information and clearly labelled editorial analysis. It must not imply that we bought, wore or repeatedly tested the product. First-hand observations, testing periods, original photographs or medical review appear only when that work actually happened and is documented on the page.
Health and safety boundary
NeedSkincare is an independent editorial publisher, not a medical service. We do not diagnose skin conditions. Pregnancy, prescriptions, persistent irritation, painful acne and scarring require advice from a qualified clinician. A named medical reviewer appears only after a real, authorized review.
Commercial independence
Affiliate relationships are disclosed. Retailer links are added after the editorial decision and do not buy a recommendation. Sponsored placement is not presented as an independent verdict. See the affiliate disclosure.
Updates and corrections
We update a public modification date only for a meaningful content change, not to make an old page look new. If a source, formula or conclusion changes, we correct, clarify or remove the affected material. Send a correction through the contact page or email hello@needskincare.com.

The NeedSkincare Editorial Team is accountable for pages published under its name. Named authors or reviewers require real identity, permission and documented responsibility. Read the editorial-team profile and published work.
